Quick Check-In

We are getting to the end of summer break (at least, for the school district I work with), which also means an upcoming lack of free time to work on the book.  My goal is to finish the current draft this week, and then follow writing advice that has been in my head for years - I will put it aside for a month or so, then come back to it with a fresh mind to revise it.  So yes, while this draft is almost done, I've still got a ways to go.  And I want to finish the draft this week because my last two weeks are going to be really busy (next week is my summer internship with a localish college, and the week after that is me getting ready for work + having my birthday celebration :-) ).

I'm going to be honest though, I also want to finish early and jump into this month-long break because I'm kind of sick of steampunk.  The steampunk festival I went to honestly soured my excitement for writing the genre.  But I want to see this book to completion, because there's so many projects I've started and given up on.  I don't want this to be one of those, not when I've come this far.  That month-long break should hopefully help me regain some enthusiasm, too.
